The ability to manipulate and to study charge trapping is essential to furthering understanding and to develop a new generation of devices. The project focuses on developing nanocapacitors that incorporate metallic nanoparticles (NPs) by combining sputtering and gas phase synthesis techniques. This hybrid approach allows precise control over the formation of NPs within the nanocapacitor structure. An essential part of the project is the operando mapping of charge distribution within the device, which provides real-time insights into how charges are spatially distributed during operation. These detailed nanoscale observations will be correlated with macroscopic measurements of the device’s performance and the results will be integrated into multiscale simulations to better understand the behavior of these advanced nanocapacitors across different scales.
